Well, I’ve finally done it. I’ve started a YouTube channel!
I’ve been contemplating doing this for a very long time and I’ve always chickened out. It always seemed to terrifying a prospect to even think about, to be honest. I’m not sure why I was so scared about starting up a YouTube channel, I think it was the fact that it seemed big and unknown. The unknown is always scary because there are so many unforeseeable things that may go wrong. On the flip side though, there are many unforeseeable things that might go right.
So, I decided to swallow my fear and try it because in the end, how can you know the out come of something if you don’t even try?
I decided the first video I would post would be one of me singing an original song. I decided to post an original song, and not a cover, as I like to think of myself as a songwriter first and foremost and then a singer, and that is how I would like to initially display myself.
Right, sorry about the rambling, you can check out my YouTube channel by simply typing Susie Corfield into the YouTube search bar.
So, I’ve been listening to a lot of different music recently instead of country, and have ended up listening to mainly punk-rock-pop sort of stuff. I’ve just re-discovered one of my favourite bands and in turn have stumbled across one of my favourite songs; When It Rains by Paramore.
It’s really nice switching things up every now and again and listening to new things. It also means that you get influenced by different things and therefore gives you more areas of music, and other things, to explore.
This is my cover of that song and I hope you like it!
Sorry I haven’t been very active recently, summer term is always busy!
Anyway, today I recorded a cover of Black Roses from Nashville. It was written b Lucy Schwartz and sung by Clare Bowen, as Scarlett O’connor, and it is truly one of the best songs I have heard. In my eyes it’s a masterpiece!
I know this song is mainly for piano, and possibly sounds slightly better on piano, I don’t really have any way to record it on piano, so guitar will have to do.
I hope you enjoy, and once again, sorry about the recording quality!
I got the idea for recording this song on Thursday when watching How I Met Your Mother. Cristin Milioti, who plays the mother, did a wonderful Ukulele cover of this song and I have been singing it almost non stop since.
